Color: All colors are permissible.
Life span: 10 to 13 years.
General characteristics/temperament: Known for being aloof, dignified, and for having a highly individualized personality, Afghan Hounds make great companions. They are loyal and affectionate with their own family but are reserved around strangers. Their beautiful coat requires regular grooming, and their larger size necessitates regular exercise. They have many cat-like tendencies and a leaning towards independence, which means they will sometimes choose to ignore obedience commands. The breed is an excellent sighthound and a spectacular show dog.
