Grooming requirement: The Bichon Frise is considered a minimal-shedding breed and tends to be better tolerated by allergy sufferers. However, their hair grows continually and extensive grooming is a must to prevent mats. Professional grooming is usually required every 4 to 6 weeks. Many owners opt to keep them in a "puppy cut" which is shorter and requires less maintenance.
Known health problems: Allergies, skin problems, bladder infections and stones, patellar luxation, LeggCalve Perthes, disk degeneration, dental diseases, eye diseases, cardiac problems, cancer, endocrine diseases, ear infections, deafness.
