Color: Black or liver with white markings or predominantly white with black or liver markings; blue or liver roan; tr-icolor: black and white or liver and white with tan markings. Any white portion of the coat may be flecked with ticking.

General characteristics/temperament: The English Springer Spaniel is friendly, cheerful, affectionate, energetic, eager to please, attentive, alert, and quick to learn. Springers are excellent working dogs and at the same time great family dogs. However, some are not suitable for families with pet birds due to their instinct as a bird dog. They are generally fine with cats or other pets. Field-bred English Springer Spaniels look so dramatically different from show-bred ones that they appear to be different breeds, although they are registered together as the same breed.
