General characteristics/temperament: The Irish Water Spaniel is alert, inquisitive, intelligent, and bold. They are often reserved with strangers, but make loving and loyal pets. They love to swim, and should ideally have access to a clean and safe body of water.

Suitable canine sports/activities: conformation, obedience, agility, tracking, field, therapy
Grooming requirement: Trim once a month. Comb regularly to remove mats.
