General characteristics/temperament: The Papillon is happy, alert, elegant, agile, and friendly. They are adaptable and do well in apartments as well as out in the country. They love to play outdoors, but because of their small size, their exercise requirements can easily be met indoors.

Grooming requirement: The coat does not have an undercoat, and is relatively easy to groom. Brushing and bathing frequently will help to keep the coat beautiful and free of mats.
