Color: White, white with black or tan markings, or a combination of these, tri-color, grizzle.
Life span: 13 to 16 years.
General characteristics/temperament: The Parson Russell Terrier is bold, athletic, clever, tenacious, courageous, playful, friendly, exuberant, and extremely affectionate. They are independent and very energetic, and possess great strength and endurance. They are generally good with children, but do not tolerate rough handling from very young children. They have a strong hunting instinct, and cannot be trusted with pet rodents and other small pets. Most will do fine with cats if raised with them, but should always be supervised around them.

Grooming requirement: There are two coat types. The broken coat should be brushed once weekly and hand stripped every few months. The smooth coated variety is easier to maintain and only needs occasional brushing, but sheds more than the broken coated variety.
