Life span: 12 to 14 years.
General characteristics/temperament: The Pyrenean Mastiff is strong, powerful, elegant, intelligent, calm, reliable, obedient, and protective. They are friendly and gentle with other dogs and people they know, but are also natural guardians with a powerful build and impressive bark. They make excellent sheep protectors and are capable of fighting off predators such as wolves. Because of their heavy coat, they are resistant to cold weather.
