General characteristics/temperament: The Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier is happy, steady, confident, alert, inquisitive, and fun-loving. They adapt well to different living situations, and generally do well with children. They are energetic and need plenty of exercise. Most Wheatens are enthusiastic greeters and will jump up to lick a person's face. Intelligent but headstrong, they require patience and consistent positive training.

Grooming requirement: The single coat is low-shedding, but grows continually and needs to be trimmed regularly. Brush and comb daily to prevent mats.
