General characteristics/temperament: The Wirehaired Vizsla is energetic, affectionate, intelligent, confident, passionate, and loyal. They are easy to train, but are sensitive and cannot tolerate rough treatment. They are generally quiet, only barking when necessary. Highly energetic, they require access to a large, securely fenced area where they can run daily. They will likely become destructive or hyperactive if they do not get enough exercise. They are excellent swimmers and will often swim in a pool if they have access to one. Wirehaired Vizslas love to be close to their owners all the time, and are gentle around children, making them great family companions.
